Foster Odyssey of the Mind Team Headed to World Finals
Congratulations to the Foster fifth grade girls' Odyssey of the Mind team for their first place win at the Pennsylvania State Tournament this month. The team of Ryan Brown, Ruby Siefken, Leah Vuillmot, Natalie McGee, Nikki LaSota, Molly Schwertfuehrer, and Evan Pirain will be traveling to the 36th Odyssey of the Mind World Finals at Michigan State University in May.

Tickets are on sale now for the high school spring musical Annie Get Your Gun on May 6-9 in the High School Auditorium. Tickets are $12 for Adults and $8 for students. Chris Stengel Among Top 100 Most Social K-12 Tech Leaders on Twitter
Congratulations to Mt. Lebanon School District Director of Technology, Christopher Stengel, for being named to the Huffington Post Tech Top 100 Most Social K-12 Tech Leaders on Twitter 2015. The list was compiled by Vala Afshar, Chief Marketing Officer for Extreme Networks, who stated, "In order for schools to teach students about social media, it is important for faculty and administration to be not only familiar with it, but adept at it as well."
Model UN Team Takes Top Honors at American University Conference
Congratulations to the high school Model UN team for their stand out performance at the American University Model UN Conference in Washington D.C. The team won the most awards of any high school, including taking 1st place honors in five of the eight committees.
Mellon Musicians Take Part in PMEA Band Festival
Congratulations to Mellon Middle School sixth grade students Ava Duchin, Madeline Tetlow and Duncan Andrews who participated in the PMEA District 1 Elementary Band Festival – West in March.
Mt. Lebanon High School Student Wins League of Women Voters Video Contest to Get Out and Vote
The League of Women Voters of Pennsylvania announced the winners of its inaugural high school student video contest “Get in the Game (Democracy is Not a Spectator Sport),” geared toward encouraging citizen participation in the democratic process. We are pleased to announce that the first place prize of $1000 was won by Alexis Galvis, a senior at Mt. Lebanon High School who created "Vote? Vote."
School Board Approves 2015-2016 Proposed Budget
The School Board approved the Proposed Final Budget at the April 13 Regular Board meeting in the amount of $91,643,749 at a millage rate of 23.57 mills, a .42 mill increase, using $750,000 from the fund balance and additional budget reductions in the amount of $580,000.
Hoover Elementary School Celebrates 50th Anniversary
Hoover Elementary School is celebrating its 50th Anniversary with an open house on Saturday, May 9 from 1:00-3:00p.m. Hoover parents, alumni, and community members are invited to visit with past and present faculty and relive memories of Hoover through pictures and archives.
Mt. Lebanon Named Digital School District
The Mt. Lebanon School District was named a Digital School District at the NSBA Conference in Nashville this week. The award is given by the Center for Digital Education and the National School Boards Association and recognizes exemplary school boards’ and districts’ use of technology to govern their district, communicate with students, parents and community and improve the learning environment and district operations.
Mt. Lebanon School District’s Music Education Program Receives National Recognition
The NAMM Foundation has again recognized the Mt. Lebanon School District for its outstanding commitment to music education with a Best Communities for Music Education (BCME) designation. This is the 8th year in a row that the District has received this honor.
Mt. Lebanon School District: A District of Distinction
The Mt. Lebanon School District was recognized as a District of Distinction by District Administration, a leading national education publication. Districts of Distinction is a national recognition program created by District Administration magazine to honor school districts that are leading the way with new and innovative ideas.

Kindergarten Enrollment
It's that time of year when parents of kindergarten age children start thinking about enrollment for the next school year. If your child is five before September 8th or the first student day of school (whichever occurs later) they are eligible to enter kindergarten in August/September of that school year. School Board Discussion Meeting Scheduled for April 7 in New High School Location
The School Board Discussion meeting will take place on Tuesday, April 7 at 7:30 p.m. and will be located in the Large Group Instruction Room, D205, in the High School. The Main Event
Last Friday after school it was a "Let's Get Ready to Rumble" moment in the high school main gym when the main event featured a wrestling match between Social Studies teacher Mr. Marc Allemang and Health and PE teacher Mr. Frank Cremonese. Students and staff took a moment to cheer on their favorites in a winner-take-all match that had everyone enjoying the moment and the school spirit.
