
Best Wishes to Staff Retirees At the May 20, 2013 School Board meeting, 17 District employees were honored who will retire this school year. These faculty and staff members represent more than 386 years of combined service to the School District. Their dedication to their profession and devotion to our students has significantly contributed to the success of the Mt. Lebanon School District. We wish them well in their retirement.

Mt. Lebanon Students Stand Out at Academic Games National Tournament Mt. Lebanon students from grades 4-12 competed at the Academic Games Nationals Tournament in Charlotte, NC last month. Students participated in games involving mathematics, set theory, propaganda, language, current events, presidential trivia, and the Revolutionary War. Mt. Lebanon players received a total of 23 awards and distinctions at the nationals competition.
High School Fine Arts Faculty Members Honored with Extra Mile Award The School Board honored members of the Fine Arts faculty who were instrumental in staging the high school spring musical, 'Seussical' with the Extra Mile Award.
School Board Approves 2013-14 Budget At the May 20, 2013 Regular Meeting, the School Board approved the 2013-2014 Budget in the amount of $83,164,503 which includes a reduction in millage rate from 27.13 mills to 22.61—a 4.52 mill decrease due to a reassessment of properties in the community, imcreasing revenu per mill by 22%. The real estate millage is set at 22.61 mills, or $2.261 on each $100 of assessed valuation.

JMS Student Receives Award for Artwork from PA American Water Thomas Jefferson Middle School sixth-grader David O’Matz earned first place for Western PA in Pennsylvania American Water’s 11th Annual “Protect Our Watersheds” Art Contest. David's artwork depicted a deer drinking from a stream entitled “Reflection.”
Model UN Team Take First Place Honors at Westminster College Tournament The Mt. Lebanon High School Model UN team won the Westminster College Model United Nations Conference on April 30th. There were 250 students from 14 high schools in Pennsylvania competing in the conference. Our students represented the US, South Korea, Germany, and South Africa.
Newsweek Ranks Mt. Lebanon High School Among America's Best High Schools Newsweek Magazine placed Mt. Lebanon High School on the 2013 list of "America's Best High Schools" ranking the school 346 out of the top 2,000 high schools in the nation.
