The Class of 2018 Is In The House!
The high school welcomed the Class of 2018 to freshman orientation this week with a high school transition program called Link Crew. The goal of the program is to welcome freshmen and make them feel comfortable, not just on orientation day, but throughout the first year of their high school experience.
High School Musicians Featured at Mt. Lebanon Library Summer Concert
Enjoy a summer night of music under the stars at the Summer Concert in the Courtyard at the Mt. Lebanon Public Library on August 28 from 7:00-8:00pm, featuring Mt. Lebanon High School String Quartet. Performing will be Jerry Meng & Zhaoliang Ma on violin, Jacob Hitt playing viola and Jennifer Vogel on cello. Admission is free.
Welcome Back!
The countdown is on for the first day of school on Sept. 2, but before the students return, teachers are back to prepare for the start of the school year. The week of in-service and classroom prep kicked off with a breakfast for all staff this morning outside of Mellon Auditorium and a welcome back program that followed, including a special video to start off the year with a smile. Coach Oldaker Brings Home the Gold From China with Team USA
Congratulations to Coach Dori Oldaker for bringing home the gold medal as head coach of Team USA's 3x3 women’s basketball team that competed this week at the 2014 Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing, China. The team dominated the women’s 3-on-3 basketball field, finishing the tournament with a perfect 13-0 record and capped its gold-medal run with a convincing 19-10 victory over the Netherlands.
Getting Ready for the First Day
It takes a village to get our schools ready for the first day of school on Sept. 2. Long before teachers step back into their classrooms, our custodians have been hard at work cleaning our facilities.

Mt. Lebanon School District Ranked #1 in Pittsburgh Business Times Guide to Western PA Schools
The Mt. Lebanon School District is the top-ranked school district in western Pennsylvania, according to the 2014 Pittsburgh Business Times' Honor Roll Rank. Mt. Lebanon High School and Jefferson Middle School were also ranked as the top 11th grade and 8th grade in the region. All 10 schools received high rankings that led to the overall top finish for the school district.
Mt. Lebanon School District Recognized Nationally for Music Education Efforts
The NAMM Foundation recognizes the Mt. Lebanon School District for its outstanding commitment to music education with a Best Communities for Music Education (BCME) designation.

Students Helping Students Prepare for the Start of School
The first day of school is just around the corner, but some of our students planned ahead and held school supply collections last spring to help provide students at schools in our region with needed pens, pencils,notebooks, and erasers to start the school year.
The Sun Finally Shines Down on Band Camp
The first week of band camp kicked off on Monday which means the start of school is right around the corner. After a few very soggy days, the sun finally broke out in time for band photos. Band Director Louise Marino is getting the group ready for the football home opener on Friday, August 29 at 7:30 p.m. against Canon McMillan High School.
Mt. Lebanon Ranks in Top Ten of Digital School Districts
The Mt. Lebanon School District ranked among the top school districts in the nation in the tenth annual Digital School Districts Survey by the Center for Digital Education and the National School Boards Association.

High School Teacher Honored at The Islamic Center of Pittsburgh
The Islamic Center of Pittsburgh (ICP) celebrated its annual Humanity Day, at which local educators were honored for promoting acceptance and understanding of different faiths. Mt. Lebanon High School Social Studies teacher, Julianne Slogick, was the only high school teacher honored at the event.
School Board Appoints New Principal for Lincoln Elementary School
Ronald J. Kitsko was appointed the new principal for Lincoln Elementary School at the July 21, 2014 School Board meeting.
District Retirees Honored at School Board Meeting
At the May 19, 2014 School Board meeting, retiring staff members were honored for their service to the school district.
Coach Oldaker to Coach USA Team in China
Mt. Lebanon High School girls’ basketball coach Dori Oldaker is headed to China this summer to coach the U18 girls’ team in the 2014 Youth Olympic Games.
