Health Services Department Chair, Deanna Hess was recently featured on WPXI during a segment about the use of epinephrine auto-injectors, commonly known as EpiPens, in Mt. Lebanon schools. All schools have a supply of EpiPens on hand for students and adults. Each year school staff are trained in the use of the pens which are designed to help individuals going into anaphylactic shock after experiencing a potentially fatal allergic reaction.
Pennsylvania Sen. Matt Smith (D-Allegheny County) introduced legislation that would require all Pennsylvania schools to maintain a supply of EpiPens.
