Model UN Team Off to Another Successful Year

The Model UN team won 1st place last weekend (Dec. 6-8) at the Penn State Model UN Tournament. Competing against teams from twenty high schools from Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York, our MUN students won numerous individual awards and the overall team award. Students competed in categories such as The European Council, The African Union and the UN Security Council.
A total of 19 Mt. Lebanon students received individual awards. They were: Megan McAdoo, Joel Kirshner, Mitchell Bognar, Azfar Merchant, Anna Wadhwani, James Pfeifer, Anna Hutchinson, Michael Oxenreiter, Katie Brown, Eva Morrison, Laura Qi, Luke Lisowski, Chloe Hoffman, Julia Maloney, Steve Helmeci, Pascal Brooks, Matt Horrigan, Jason Hois and Taylor Dumaine.
In November, our MUN students won 1st place at the University of Pittsburgh Model UN tournament. Over 400 students from 25 high schools in Pennsylvania, Ohio and Maryland competed at the Pitt conference. Lebo students represented the United States, Brazil and Denmark in committees such as the World Health Organization and the UN Security Council. Individual students winning awards at Pitt were Ryan Fan, Azfar Merchant, Katie Brown, Jason Hois, Alec Medice, Liam Shi and Matt Horrigan.
The Model UN team will compete at Duquesne University in January and Duke University in February.
