Mellon Students Help Those in Need With Coat and Blanket Drive January 13, 2014
Mellon students worked to get donated coats and blankets packed up and ready for pick up to help homeless in the area.
Mellon Middle School students were overwhelmed with the response to their winter blanket and coat drive for the homeless held over the past few weeks. Bags of coats for babies to adults, along with blankets and sleeping bags, have been dropped off at Mellon for donation to the non-profit Yinz Stay Warm for distribution to homeless around the area.
Mellon students have spent many volunteer hours sorting, folding and bagging the donations that will be picked up at end of this week and distributed to those in need during the cold winter months. Mellon teacher Mrs. Deanna Amenta helped to coordinate the drive. Donations will be accepted until the end of this week.
