The Olympic Spirit Celebrated at Lincoln School February 9, 2014
The parade of nations kick-off the Lincoln Olympics.
Sochi isnít the only place hosting the Olympics. Last week Lincoln Elementary School opened their first Olympic Games with a "Parade of Nations" where all 17 Lincoln classes took part, representing the country they chose to research.
During the Lincoln Olympics, students will learn about the origins of the games, how they are celebrated, and learn about Sochi, Russia. Lincoln students will take part in a school-wide Olympic celebration as they study and participate in some of the Winter Olympic sports, and study the history and geography of the countries at the games. During art, foreign language, music, library and P.E., students will learn songs, create art projects, research and participate in games to make this a cross-curricular event. The two week Lincoln Olympics will conclude with a closing ceremony where medals will be given to all students to celebrate their achievement and good sportsmanship throughout the Olympic experience.
