Percussion Program Celebrates 30th Anniversary
May 19, 2014
A photo from last night's percussion concert.

This week  Mt. Lebanon Percussion will celebrate its 30th Anniversary with concerts on May 22 and 23 at 7:30p.m. and May 24 at 1:00p.m. and 7:30p.m. There will also be a special Alumni Percussion performance during the Saturday matinee.

This year, to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the percussion program, internationally known composer and marimba soloist, Dr. Nathan Daughtrey,  was commissioned to write a major work for the percussion ensemble. The composition, The Dreamers of Dreams, is an advanced level composition written for 12 percussionists based on Arthur William Edgar O'Shaughnessy's poem, "We are the music-makers, And we are the dreamers of dreams..."  The world premiere will take place on Thursday evening, May 22, as part of the 30th Annual Evening of Percussion Concert Series and will be performed during all of the concerts. After the performances, The Dreamers of Dreams  will be published and available for performance by college/university and advanced high school percussion ensembles throughout the world.

Congratulations to percussion director, Mr. Richard Minnotte and our students on this milestone celebration.
