Dr. Marybeth Irvin, newly appointed
Assistant Superintendent of Elementary Education

At the May 19, 2014 School Board meeting the Mt. Lebanon School Board unanimously voted to appoint Marybeth D. Irvin, Ph.D. as the new Assistant Superintendent of Elementary Education, effective July 1.  Dr. Irvin is the principal of Lincoln Elementary School where she has served since July 2012. In her new position, Dr. Irvin will oversee elementary curriculum K-5. During her tenure at Lincoln, the school was awarded its third Blue Ribbon in 2013 and was among the Mt. Lebanon Schools recognized this year with the Governor's Award for Academic Excellence.

"I am very pleased to welcome Dr. Irvin to the District's senior leadership team," said Superintendent Timothy Steinhauer. "She brings valuable curriculum experience and expertise to our elementary program. She will be an important asset for our principals, staff, students, and families."

Prior to Mt. Lebanon, Dr. Irvin was the Director of Curriculum K-8 in the State College Area School District. She began her career as an elementary teacher in the Mifflin County School District and moved into administration as a principal. Dr. Irvin holds a bachelor's degree in elementary education, a master's degree in educational administration and a doctorate in educational leadership, all from The Pennsylvania State University.
