Lincoln 5th graders with their favorite books and their persuasive essays.
Lincoln 5th grade students are persuasive writers, and they have new books in their classrooms as a result. The classes were given a prompt for a persuasive writing unit that asked them to convince someone to buy their favorite book. The students wrote such convincing, well-written essays that their recommendations were used by their teachers to buy over $800 in books for the Lincoln leveled library. Student favorites included Anne Frank, The Diary of a Young Girl, The One and Only Ivan, Blood on the River, Hatchet, The Giver, and Hoot. These copies will be used in the classroom for differentiation within the curriculum as well as for leisure reading. The funds for the books were donated by the Lincoln PTA.
