It has been 24 years since Debbi Lon-Fitzgerald wore the Mt. Lebanon cross country uniform, however, her dedication and enthusiasm for her school is still just as strong as it was in 1982.
“As an alum, we share our experiences at Mt. Lebanon to family and friends that we meet on life’s journey. That is when we realize just how important and what an impact Mt. Lebanon and the coaches had upon us while we were here,” said Fitzgerald.
Fitzgerald wanted to recognize an individual who had a positive impact upon her life, girls’ cross country Coach Ron Schreiner.
“For the last 25 plus years, he [Schreiner] has embodied great professionalism. He has a wealth of running knowledge, which he selflessly shares with runners, while imparting great life lessons. I recognize that in myself, the many lessons learned as a member of his team and wish to thank him.”
Fitzgerald established the Coach Ron Schreiner Award for Girls’ Fall Cross Country.
This annual award will focus on the young lady of the girls’ cross country team that most embodies’ the coach’s core team values of positive attitude, hard work, and commitment to the team. Additionally $1,000 will be donated to the Girls’ Cross Country team for unrestricted use at the conclusion of the season.
