Follow these directions: 1. Read Coach Koutsavlis' notes (once they are posted) 2. Watch your video lesson (these are done by Coach McCloskey, and they only address the most basic aspects of your throwing mechanics on your fastball, Coach Koutsavlis' notes will be much more detailed, and comment on your off-speed pitches) 3. Watch your slow motion video (it plays through all 6 pitches first at regular speed then slow motion) and see if you can pick up what Coach Koutsavlis and Coach McCloskey were talking about. 4. Repeat steps 1-3.

Hitting Videos from 11/9 & 11/10
Here is the checklist for breaking down your video:
 I. Stride to load; Check the following: a)Weight stays back b) Head stays back c) Hands are positioned a fist away from back shoulder
II. Hip turn starts our swing a) the back hip leads the hands b) watch to see if your arms or hips move forward first by watching your back knee in relationship to your hands
III. Hands are coming straight to the ball a) notice how the knob of the bat leads the way b) when you don't turn first, the bat is coming around
IV. Impact a) back elbow bent at 90 degrees b) hip is all the way through c) head is over back knee (not forward or backward) d) front knee is locked out e) chin is down
 V. Extension a) Back elbow is locked out b) hands maintain "palm up/palm down" (not rolling over) c) chin has slightly dropped and remained back

Before you watch your video, watch the samples: Click Here to see Josh Beckett video from the side
As you watch the video, notice the following
Not sitting on his back leg, but moving foward
Front foot lands, the "load" position
 Hip turn before shoulders rotate
Chest over front leg at release (front side driving forward)
Click HERE to see Tim Lincecum video from the front
Going forward (not sitting on back leg)
 At the "load" position
Hips turn before shoulders (best in all of baseball at this)
Release; chin and chest forward over front side
Click on name to see your video, and go through the following checklist with yourself: 1. Am I moving forward right away, or am I sitting on my back leg? 2. Watch your head, am I going constantly forward and down hill, or do i sit, and then does my head move up, as I throw "uphill"? (Uphill is wrong by the way) 3. Pause when the first part of your stride foot hits the ground (sometimes heel/sometimes toe) and go through the checklist a) chin over belly button b) weight on back foot c) elbow as high as back shoulder d) shoulders closed e) hips closed f) "equal and opposite" front and back arm (the steel rod through your both your arms) 4. Do my hips rotate before my shoulders? (do I get the "Stretch" between hips and shoulder rotation?) 5. Pause when you are releasing the ball, is my chest out over my front side? 6. Does my hip pop through or drag through? 7. Does my front knee remain still as I pop my hip? (watch these check points in Beckett and Lincecum videos, then compare to yours)

Look at this sample, as it will help us with some of our problems
He is going forward, not sitting on his back leg
Again, going forward, not sitting on back leg
At impact, see how back elbow is up, front arm is equal and opposite angle for balance. See how his front side is closed, and his chin is over his belly button.
You can see how the chin and chest have been pulled foward to get get out over his front side
At release, you can see how he is out over his front side, you can see that his chest is over his front knee
Click here to watch the video of the above pitcher
As you watch the above pitcher, watch for the following: 1. Never sits on back leg, everything goes forward. 2. Always goes down hill, head or arm doesn't go up 3. When stride foot hits, notice how is front side (his shoulders are cocked) You can see that his elbow is up, and his head stays back over his belly button 4. As he rotates, you can see how the hips lead his shoulders 5. Look at how he drives the chin and chest forward (gets over his front side) for this; watch from the time his stride foot lands, until the time he releases the ball Click on a name below to see the videos

Hitting Videos From 11/24 Now I have done my part, you need to read my notes carefully and it's time to do your part. We have made some progress hitting, but we are still light years away from where we need to be. We are off to a solid start, but now it is up to you to take it forward. These observations on your hitting are not subjective, they are objective. You are compared to the five absolutes of hitting that we teach which are all presented in our instructional videos. If you want to be good, you will watch yourself over and over again until you have it clear in your mind what you need to do. Watch the instructional videos and the college videos of Steranka and Isler. Watch the perfect swings of Happ and Stobbe in our instructional videos. You have the information, now it's up to you to do something with it.

Before you watch your video, watch the video of Michael Cudeyer and compare yourself (pause your video) at the following points:
CLICK HERE TO WATCH THE CUDEYER VIDEO OF A "PERFECT" SWING!!!
Stride to load (many of you have your hands "leaking" or starting to move forward before your stride foot hits)

The hips lead the way ahead of the hands (look to see if your hands are leading your hips; many of you have made this mistake)

Your hands have to be going straight to the ball (in tight against your body) Many of you are leading with your arms (instead of your hips) and your arms take a long path, and you can see how "long" your swing looks compared to this

Impact (notice how the head is burried, the tilt, the hip turn, the back elbow bent at 90 degrees, and the palm-up/palm down)

Extension (notice the back elbow locked out pointing to where the ball is hit and he keeps the palm-up/palm-down relationship without rolling his hands over, almost none of you get to this point!!! notice how he keeps his tilt and how the chin has slightly dropped, it has not come or gone back. He clearly "extends" the bat through the strike zone, he doesn't "swing" the bat and come around)
