Online Resources

Student Resource Center Student Resource Center is a subscription database that includes full-text articles from reference books, journals, magazines and newspapers.  You may search in the  following ways: person search, subject, keyword, classroom topic, or timeline.  Many  articles contain multimedia files of pictures or sound.  In the library, SRC will open  automatically; to use it at home you must have a password.  Please see Mrs. Smith for  the remote access login.
Power Library The POWER Library is offered as a service of Pennsylvania's public libraries, school libraries and the State Library. The POWER library allows you to access thousands of full text periodical articles, newspapers, a major encyclopedia, plus photographs, pictures, charts, maps, and reference materials. To access POWER Library in the high school library, simply click on the words or icon.  You may also access POWER Library from home. To log-in from home, you can link to POWER Library from the Mount Lebanon Public Library page and enter the number on the back of your library card.
ABC-CLIO Social Studies Databases The ABC-CLIO Databases offer extensive information when you are in need of information about World History, American History and Governments.  Follow the log-in instructions on the next screen for access.
Literary Reference Online Based on Facts On File’s extensive print literature collection, Literary Reference Online examines the lives and works of great writers throughout history. Unlike many resources, this database not only contains information on thousands of authors and their major and minor works but also an archive of 35,000 characters, as well as extensive glossary and subject entries featuring historical events and their impact on literature. The Username and Password for LRO is Lebo.  You may also access it from your home computer.
The following are descriptions of  available databases within POWER Library.  You must click on the POWER Library icon above to actually gain access to them.    AP Multimedia Archive More than 500,000 current and historical photographs and graphics can be searched by date, place and subject. More than 800 photographs are added to the archive daily.     EBSCO Publishing Book Index with Reviews Provides information on over 3.8 million book titles, fiction and non-fiction.  The database contains over 800,000 full  text searchable reviews.       EBSCO Publishing Book Source--Nonfiction Full text and abstracts for 1000 nonfiction books. Full- text articles on literature, science, social studies, career health,sports, adventure and technology are included.   EBSCO Publishing NoveList  Find a good book to read here! Includes fiction authors, titles and themes. Provides suggestions of books that are similar to those of a particular author or a certain title.   EBSCO Publishing Funk and Wagnall's Encyclopedia 25,000 entries are included.   Gale Group Contemporary Authors A guide to current writers of fiction, nonfiction, poetry, journalism, drama, motion pictures and television.   EBSCO Publishing Health Source Plus  Search for information on medicine, food and nutrition, childcare, sports medicine, and general health.   Grove Art Online Provides access to the complete text of the 34-volume Dictionary of Art. Newly-commissioned articles and links to images from galleries and museums from around the world are included.   EBSCO Publishing MAS Online Plus  General interest and current events magazines are indexed and abstracted. Full text articles available from over 300 publications.   Grove Music Online Provides access to the complete text of the 29-volume New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians and the New Grove Dictionaries of Opera and Jazz. Links are available to musical sites on the Internet.   EBSCO Publishing MasterFILE Premier Covering every general interest area, this database provides full text articles from reference books, biographies, maps, flags, and photos.    LitFinder Search for full text poems, citations and excerpts using Poem Finder.  Story Finder provides thousands of full text short stories with explanations, biographies, and more.  Use Essay Finder to locate full text essays published in the 20th century.   EBSCO Publishing Newspaper Source Full text articles from over 180 regional US and international newspapers.  Abstracts are available for national papers.     SIRS Discoverer Includes full text articles and images from over 1,600 domestic and international newspapers, magazines and government documents.
