A R T C U R R I C U L U M
The elementary art teachers throughout the district work together to develop an integrated art curriculum aligned with National and State Art Standards. If you would like to see a copy of a complete district elementary art curriculum, please stop by the art room. We are very proud of it, however, there is only one copy for viewing. A R T S H I R T S
When students come to the art room, we ask that they bring an art shirt or smock, as we sometimes use materials that could stain or dirty clothing. Students may keep labeled art shirts in a bag in their lockers. Please remind your children to bring them home once a month for washing.
C U R R E N T N E W S & P R O J E C T S
If you have any reusable items like plastic containers, paper towel rolls, or other items in large quantities, please send them to our art room. Please wash and dry the items before packaging them for school use.
We can always use helpful, Howe parent volunteers to hang artwork and to assist with art club activities and/or the arts festival. If you are interested, please contact Mrs. Kalcevic or Mrs. Van Raaphorst.
A R T C L U B & A R T H E L P E R S
Howe Art Club meets on Mondays during the lunchtime period. Art club students work on projects that we often do not have time to complete during regular art class sessions throughout the year. The students also create artwork for school events. Currently, Howe Lunchtime Art Club is offered to only 5th grade students who have completed applications and received permission from their parents. Please bring a lunch and be prepared to make art! If Mrs. Kalcevic is absent from school or has a meeting, Art Club will be cancelled (an announcement will be made and a sign will be posted on the art room door).
Art Helpers are 4th & 5th grade students who assist the art teachers with completing everyday tasks throughout the art room. Examples of their assistance includes placing paper on tables, gathering/organizing art materials, and much more. Thank you to all our Art Helpers!
