4th Grade
Fourth graders created watercolor paintings of "The Great Kapok Tree" after studying the art of Henri Rousseau. This was in conjunction with a writing assignment of a response to literature.

Fourth graders studied the art of Vincent Van Gogh's "Room at Arles" and created "their favorite room" in marker and oil pastels. This was in conjunction with a fourth grade writing assignment of their favorite room.

Fourth grades worked in conjunction with their Writer's Workshop to develop these character pots in ceramic clay. They then wrote about them in writing class.

2nd Grade Second graders studied the artist Juan Miro and did cut paper designs. They also designed leaf animals on scratch art board which tied in with a project they studied in their reading class.
Second graders studied the art of Toulouse LaTrec and created watercolor resist paintings of clowns.

Second graders studied the art of Walt Disney and created a portrait of their favorite cartoon character doing an activity they enjoy.

Second grade students created "turtle pots" in ceramic clay by using several methods of handbuilding. They used the pinch method as well as the coil and slab methods to create the turtle pots.

1st Grade First graders studied the art of Wasily Kandinsky and created paintings in the style of Kandinsky. They learned their primary and secondary colors with this project.
First graders studied the art of James Audubon and created patterned birds using oil pastels.

Students in the first grade created pinch pots in ceramic clay by using the pinch method of handbuilding.
