Are you looking for ways to further enrich your child’s Spanish experience? Here are a few ideas!
- In October of this year, PBS began airing a children’s program called ‘Maya and Miguel’. The main characters are 10 year old twins who have lots of goodhearted adventures together. Maya and Miguel are part of a Hispanic family and throughout the program, short Spanish phrases are used. Additionally, many important aspects of the Hispanic culture are shared. The show airs Monday through Friday from 4:30-5:00.
- Some great website to help your child with Spanish fluency:
· For computer lovers, there is a ‘Maya and Miguel’ website where children can send email postcards and practice their Spanish through a number of bilingual activities. The address is: www.pbskids.org/mayaandmiguel/flash.html.
· Mount Lebanon Library has a Spanish section within the Children’s Library. Children can check out the more basic books to look for words they are already familiar with as well as find new words to share!
