in Mythology Bee Contest!

On May 5, the Disney Book Group announced that JMS sixth-grader Julia Maloney is the national winner of the Percy Jackson & the Olympians Mythology Bee.   As the grand prize winner, Julia will travel with her family to Greece this summer and will meet author Rick Riordan while there.

In February, 44 students competed in the Percy Jackson Mythology Bee in the Jefferson Middle School Library.    Fans of mythology and of Rick Riordan’s Percy Jackson series prepared by studying Greek mythology and using library resources.  Of those 44 students, 11 went on to compete in the JMS finals, where  Julia took first place.   Mrs. Conaway, librarian, and Mrs. Fierle, gifted coordinator, entered Julia’s name into the national contest.   Julia was chosen from among several hundred entries from schools and libraries throughout the US.
