LINCOLN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT POLICY

 

  1. Lincoln Elementary School takes the following actions to involve parents in the joint development of its school parental involvement plan under section 1112 of the ESEA:
  • Conducts an annual survey of parents for needs and concerns
  • Invites parents of Title 1 students to participate in the development of the building parent involvement policy
  • Shares said policy with all parents of Title 1 students

 

  1. Lincoln Elementary School takes the following actions to involve parents in the process of school review and improvement under section 1116 of the ESEA:
  • Invites parents to an annual informational/involvement meeting
  • Student identification criteria is explained
  • Program overview and requirements are explained
  • Surveys parents for needs and concerns
  • Reviews survey results
  • Allocates funds for parent involvement

 

  1. Lincoln Elementary School provides the following support to assist in planning and implementing effective parental involvement activities to improve student academic achievement and school performance:
  • Appropriates funds for parental activities
  • Distributes the Title 1 Home/School Involvement Compact to all parents and identified students
  • Presents workshops during the day and evening to educate parents on current reading strategies
  • Informational pamphlets and handouts are distributed in a timely manner

 

  1. Lincoln Elementary School builds the school and parents’ capacity for strong parental involvement, in order to ensure effective involvement of parents and to support a partnership among Lincoln School, parents, and the community to improve academic achievement through the following activities specifically listed below:

                  A. The school district, with the assistance of its Title 1, Part A                                       schools, provides assistance to parents of children served by the                                             district or school, as appropriate, in understanding topics such as                                               the following:

·         The State’s academic content standards

·         The State’s student academic achievement standards

·         The State and local academic assessments

·         Curriculum based assessments (Harcourt Trophies)

·         DIBELS

·         How to monitor their child’s progress

·         How to work with educators

·         Title 1 Eligibility

 

 

 

 

      Activities:

1.      Conduct an annual informational meeting, one/year

2.      Conduct Parent-Teacher conferences, three/year; more upon request

      (Day and Evening)

3.      Open-lines of communication via newsletters by Title 1 reading specialist and principal

4.      Workshops

5.      Parental/school compact

6.      District Web page with specific, topical postings

7.      Lincoln School Web page

8.      Curriculum Night / September

9.      Kindergarten Orientation for parents of incoming kindergarten students

 

            B. Lincoln School provides materials and training to help parents work with their children to improve their children’s academic achievement, such as literacy training and using technology, as appropriate, to foster parental             involvement by:

·         Parents as Partners Workshops (Day and Evening)/ Literacy Training

·         Newsletters

·         Parent Resource Center

·         Provide resources when requested

 

C .Lincoln School educates its teachers, pupil service personnel, and other staff in how to reach out, communicate with and work with parents as equal partners, in the value and utility of contributions of parents in how to implement and coordinate parent programs and build ties between parents and schools by:

·         Open –lines of communication

·         Surveys

·         Teacher Modeling in Classrooms

 

D. Lincoln School takes the following actions to ensure that information related to the school and parent programs, meetings and other activities, is sent to the parents of participating children in an understandable format.  Timely information is sent to all parents of Title 1 students by:

·         Newsletters

·         Pamphlets

·         Lincoln Web page calendar
