Art at Markham

The visual arts give us the opportunity to explore and discover new and imaginative ways of solving problems and expressing ourselves.

Throughout the year, look for curriculum connections, art history connections and the use of a variety of tools, media and processes.  Most of all, watch our Markham artists exhibit a sense of joy and excitement as they make and share their artwork!

Ø  All students in grades 1-5 have a 45 minute Art Class once a week.

Ø  All students receive a progress report four times a year, at the end of each quarter.  Students are evaluated in:

           Demonstrates skills and knowledge of concepts using a variety of materials.

           Participates appropriately in activities

Student artwork is displayed regularly throughout the school.  The Spring Arts Festival and Open House showcase student art.
