Drop-Off and Pick-Up Procedures

Markham has two options for easy and safe drop-off and pick-up of children. Please review procedures below, choose the option that is right for your family, and review it with your children so that they understand where to go. You may also refer to the map on our website for further clarification of these procedures.

Go Zone:

·         Located on Crescent Drive directly in front of school

·         Go Zone is used for Drop-Off in the morning (8:15 to 8:45 a.m.), pick-up at kindergarten (11:15 a.m.) & lunch dismissal (11:45 a.m.), Drop-Off at p.m. kindergarten and lunch arrival (12:45 p.m.), and Pick-Up at end of day dismissal (3:10 to 3:40 p.m.)

·         NO PARKING is permitted in this zone during Drop-off and Pick-Up times

·         For Drop-Off

o   Pull into Zone and as far forward as you can

o   Allow your child to exit the vehicle on the driver’s side only

o   After your child has exited, exit the Go Zone to allow more cars to pull over

·         For Pick-Up

o   Have your child wait in the Go Zone area (blue and white painted lines on sidewalk)

o   If your child is waiting in the Go Zone, pull over and as far forward as you can, allow your child to enter the vehicle on the driver’s side only, once your child is secure in the car, exit the Go Zone.

o   IF YOUR CHILD IS NOT WAITING IN THE GO ZONE, please circle the block again and pull into the Go Zone when they have arrived.

o   NO PARKING OR WAITING IS PERMITTED IN THE GO ZONE.

Beadling Drop-Off Only Zone:

·         Directly Below the Athletic Field there is a Drop-Off Only area with NO PARKING permitted between the hours of 8:25 – 8:50 AM and 12:35 – 1:00 PM

o   Pull into Drop-Off Only Zone and as far forward as you can

o   Allow your child to exit the vehicle on the passenger’s side only

o   After your child has exited, exit the Drop-Off Zone to allow more cars to pull over

o   NO PARKING OR WAITING IS PERMITTED IN THE DROP-OFF ONLY ZONE.

These two options are designed for quick drop-off and pick-up and to keep the traffic flowing around the school at these busy times. These areas should be used by parents who are secure with dropping their child off to walk up to the school on their own or who can be picked up without having a parent/caregiver to escort them to the car. If you would like to walk your child up to the building at drop off or walk up to pick them up after school, please park on the left side of Crescent Drive or in the Bird Park parking lot. Do NOT use the Governor's Drive during Drop-Off or Pick-Up.

Other Parking Areas

Crescent Drive:

·         Drop-Off and Pick-Up permitted on the left side of the street or in the Go Zone

·         NO PARKING on the right side of the street

·         2 Hour Parking on the left side of the street

 Beadling Parking Areas: 

·         You may park directly in front of the Governors Drive or in the Bird Park Lot for both Drop-Off and Pick-Up for 5 minutes only

Bird Park Lot:

·         The IN is on the East portion of the Lot and the OUT is on the West

·         There is a Crossing Guard at the West End of the Bird Park Lot

Markham Rear Parking Lot:

·         This is located off of Markham Drive in the rear of the school

·         Drop-Off and Pick-Up can be made in the lot with easy turn around to exit

Important Details

·         Crossing Guard located at the corner of Inglewood and Crescent

·         Crossing Guard located at the school steps on Crescent

·         Crossing Guard located at Crescent and Beadling

·         School Zone – 15 MPH

·         AGAIN, DO NOT ENTER THE GOVERNORS DRIVE!!!!  Many children walk through this lot.  If you have a child who is injured, you may obtain a Pink Medical Slip from the school office which will allow you to use the Governor's Drive to drop off your child.

·         There are NO U-TURNS permitted in the School Zone on Beadling.  Please use the Bird Park Lot to turn around.
