Reflections (Arts in Education)
Reflections is a National PTA-sponsored arts recognition and achievement program that encourages children to be creative through the use of art with a different theme each year. The children express the theme through poetry, music, dance and art. Stages of the competition begin locally and winners can move on to regional, state and national competitions.
The Reflections Program provides not only increased community awareness on the importance of the arts in education but opportunities for students to:
*express themselves creatively
*receive positive recognition of original works of art
inspired by a pre-selected theme
Last year Markham had 9 local winners, 4 council winners, 3 regional winners, and even a 1st place state winner. We had a pizza lunch celebration with prizes and Mr. Freil even recognized all Markham participants at the year-end assembly.

The year's theme is “Magic of a Moment”.
