MT LEBANON SCHOOL DISTRICT
HEALTH SYLLABUS
I. PHILOSOPHY OF HEALTH EDUCATION 4-5
In order to establish and develop a positive life style, young people should develop those concepts and skills that foster individual health and well-being. Personal health is multidimensional. The physical, intellectual, emotional and social dimensions of each person are interrelated and are influenced by such things as age, experience, environment, and other people, especially family members. By emphasizing positive self-concept and high self-esteem, the student will recognize that the healthier a person becomes, the better the person will feel about himself or herself.
Skill development acquired through the use of group interaction, discussion and individual reflection prepares the student to bridge the gap between health knowledge and behavior.
