Assistant Superintendent of Elementary Education

Marybeth Irvin, Ph.D.

Marybeth D. Irvin, Ph.D. serves as the Assistant Superintendent of Elementary Education and oversees elementary curriculum K-5. Prior to this position, Dr. Irvin was principal of Lincoln Elementary School, which was awarded its third Blue Ribbon from the United States Department of Education in 2013. That same year, Lincoln was among the Mt. Lebanon Schools recognized with the Governor's Award for Academic Excellence. In 2014 Lincoln was named a Title I Distinguished School.

Before joining the Mt. Lebanon School District, Dr. Irvin was the Director of Curriculum K-8 in the State College Area School District. She led the application process for Pennsylvania Schools to Watch, and in 2009 both middle schools in the district received this designation from the National Forum for Middle Grades Reform. Also while at State College, she sat on the leadership team of the nationally and internationally recognized Professional Development School partnership with The Pennsylvania State University's College of Education.

She began her career as an elementary teacher in the Mifflin County School District and moved into administration as a principal and Federal Programs Coordinator. In addition to her roles in schools, Dr. Irvin served on the executive board of the Pennsylvania Middle School Association (now PMLE) for eleven years, and as it's president in 2008.

Dr. Irvin holds a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education, a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership, all from The Pennsylvania State University.
