The arts are alive and thriving in the Mt. Lebanon School District, so plan to attend the High School Art Show on April 28 from 6:30-8:30p.m. in the high school. A unique gallery crawl is planned to showcase student art throughout the high school. The Art Show has a long standing tradition of excellence that showcases the most significant pieces of art created by the Advanced Placement Studio Art students. Our students will create and curate their own gallery exhibits.
Each student worked to meet the College Board requirement of a 24-piece portfolio. One half of their portfolio addressed 12 rigorous, open-ended prompts which demanded skill mastery, conceptualization, experimentation, and inventiveness. The remaining half of their portfolio called for students to author a very specific, thoughtful investigation that all twelve works of art would be concentrated. These pieces fostered an evolution in both media application and artistic maturity. Works of art created by students in Art 1, 2, 2D, Honors 2D, Ceramics, and Honors Ceramics will also be showcased to illustrate some of the skills learned in the courses leading up to AP Studio Art.
Plan to support our artists and their exceptional works of art by attending the Art Show on April 28.
