Mt. Lebanon High School Concert Choir will perform the Fauré "Requiem" on Tuesday, March 21 at 7:30PM at Southminster Church as part of a new, annual "Masterworks Concert," which will feature a major classical work performed at a venue in the Mt. Lebanon community. This annual concert's purpose is to build upon ties between the community and the District as well as to further establish the District's reputation for high-quality choral/fine arts/music programming. The Masterworks Concerts will be offered annually as a "gift to Mt. Lebanon," meaning that admission is free and the performance is, as always, open to the public.
The Fauré "Requiem" is a major, classical, and widely-performed choral work by French composer, Gabriel Fauré, that is representative of the late Romantic and early Impressionistic periods in classical music. Fauré composed the work between 1887 and 1890, making it his 48th opus. Vocal solos within the work will be performed by seniors, Bryce Eckenrode, Lydia Halkias, and Zhen Yu Ding. The choir will be accompanied by Mr. Chaz Bowers, organ, Ms. Carrie Walsh, violin, and Ms. Sierra Pastel, harp.
