Dr. Timothy J. Steinhauer 
Superintendent of Schools
Mt. Lebanon School District

 

Dr. Timothy J. Steinhauer was appointed Superintendent of Schools for the Mt. Lebanon School District in June, 2009. Before coming to Mt. Lebanon, Dr. Steinhauer served as the Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Education and Curriculum at North Allegheny School District. He began at North Allegheny in 2006 as Assistant Superintendent of Elementary Education and Curriculum. Prior to his tenure at North Allegheny, Dr. Steinhauer served as principal of Upper St. Clair High School, Fort Couch Middle School, and assistant principal of Upper St. Clair High School. He was assistant principal at Bentworth Area High School. Dr. Steinhauer began his teaching career as the instrumental music director at Conrad Weiser Junior/Senior High and Clearfield Area High School.

Dr. Steinhauer has specialized training as a Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award Examiner and is a trained examiner for the National Institute of Standards of Technology for the U.S. Commerce Department, serving in 2005-2006. He is also an assistant examiner for the International Baccalaureate Organization. Dr. Steinhauer was a reader/evaluator for the Pennsylvania Department of Education National Blue Ribbon Excellence Applications in 1997 and 1999.

Dr. Steinhauer has presented at national and international conferences including the 2009 American Association of School Administrators (The Magic in the Middle School Model: Excellence as a Professional Learning Community); the International Center for Leadership in Education (13th Annual Model Schools Conference Case Study 2005); the Sino-American Conference on Educational Leadership - Hohhot, Inner Mongolia, China, (Multiple Intelligences 2004).

Dr. Steinhauer holds a Master of Education in Educational Administration and a Doctorate of Education in Educational Administration, both from Pennsylvania State University. He has a Bachelor of Science in Music Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
