Mayan Procession September 30, 2006–January 14, 2007 Third Floor Rear
Mayan Procession, a tribute to an endangered group of people, includes 14 paintings and 30 photographs by Winifred Godfrey of daily life among the Highland Maya. The exhibit also includes a selection of special Mayan textiles to accompany the paintings and photos.
The series of 14 life-sized canvases places the viewer in a fixed position as a Guatemalan funerary procession passes by. Each painting shows a series of figures that represent a sampling of the different indigenous Mayan groups of Guatemala, groups who have maintained their traditions and serve as a living connection to a pre-Columbian past. |

The show airs Monday through Friday from 3:30 – 4:00.
