Washington Bullying Prevention Program
(WBPP)
Dear Parent(s),
It is time for parents from each of our elementary buildings to complete the Olweus Parent Survey as part of continually improving our Olweus Bullying Prevention Program. We are working hard to provide a safer and more welcoming environment for all of our learners within the Mt. Lebanon School District. Parent feedback is very important to the success of the HALT! program - we need your help in gathering as much information as possible about our programs' strengths and areas of improvement. Survey results are submitted anonymously unless you choose to provide specific contact information in provided free response boxes. We ask that you complete the survey in the next few days, but no later than Wednesday, November 25, 2009. Completion of the survey will take less than 5 minutes in most instances (15 Scaled Questions).
Parents should choose the survey option below based on the elementary school your child(ren) currently attend(s).

Washington School began piloting the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program, a comprehensive, school-wide, researched program designed to reduce and prevent bullying problems and improve peer relations, in May 2007. During that time, baseline data was collected from our 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students regarding their perceptions and experiences with bullying, utilizing the Olweus program’s 41 question survey. In August 2007 the school-wide program officially began which included:
! School-Wide Kick-Off events
! School Rules Against Bullying
! Student Pledges
! K-5 Weekly Classroom meetings
! Bullying prevention and intervention procedures
! Annual Spring Survey for 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students
Hooray! After implementing the program for two school years, students continue to report a reduction in bullying situations from 2007. Our program continues with the help of administrators, teachers, staff, students and parents to make Washington School a safe, bully-free environment for learning.
