Top 10 Things to Prepare for Kindergarten:

   1.  Read aloud with your children every day.

    2.  Have your children practice printing their first names.

3.      Have your children practice putting things into their backpacks and getting things back out on their own.

4.      Practice walking or driving the route to school.

5.      Be sure to register for kindergarten with Mrs. Anderson in the Washington School office.

6.      Practice zipping, buttoning, and tying so that your child can do these skills independently.

7.      Attend story hour at the public library to help your children settle into a group and enjoy activities with others.

8.      Help your child to practice identifying letters and numbers around the house and around the neighborhood.

9.      Encourage your child to count objects by touching each item as it is counted orally.

10. Help your children to look forward to all of the fun and exciting things that they will learn in kindergarten by talking together about how they will be reading and playing and writing and drawing and singing and doing all kinds of amazing activities beginning in August!

We can’t wait to see you in Kindergarten!
