Congratulations to Mt. Lebanon High School Science Club

Congratulations to Mt. Lebanon High School Science Club members for their diligent research and excellent presentations at the Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science regional competition on Saturday.  

Mae Cano (11th grade) took home a second place award, and August Kollar (12th grade) received a first place award in the biology category. 

August Zentner (10th grade) earned a first place award for his physics project as well as a special award from the American Vacuum Society.  Also in the physics category, Laila Polat (11th grade) earned a first place award and a special award from the Society of Women Engineers.

In Computer Science, Sally Tan (11th grade) received a second place award, and Katie Ding (10th grade) earned a first place award. 

Lucia Mikush (11th grade) earned a first place award in the mathematics category as well as a director’s award for his outstanding work and presentation. 

As a senior, Aidan Hall earned a first place award in the engineering category as well as an AVS award.  Aidan also won a perseverance award for his continued participation in the PJAS program. 

Students who won first place awards will move on to PJAS state competition at Penn State University.

The Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science is a statewide organization of junior and senior high school students designed to stimulate and promote interest in science among its members through the development of research projects and investigations.

High school students who are interested in expanding their research and investigation skills and would like to work on a science project next year should contact Mrs Glover for information.
