MTLSD Middle School Students Impress At Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science State Competition

Congratulations to the MMS and JMS middle school students for achieving first and second-place awards at the recent Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science State Competition at Penn State University.

Mellon 7th grader Eli Lasus earned a first place AND a perfect score for his project on the Digestion of Different Forms of Sugar. Eli also won the 2024 Director's Award for Excellence in Microbiology. He competed against hundreds of middle school students throughout Pennsylvania for this prestigious award. 

JMS 8th grader Annelise Mayer also won a first place in chemistry for her project titled Rates of Absorption for Common Material. JMS sisters Claire Raff and Alaina Raff each earned a second place for their projects. Congratulations to all the students who advanced to the states this year!
