Mt. Lebanon School District is proud to announce ten students who have been recognized as Semifinalists in the 70th annual National Merit Scholarship Program. Approximately 16,000 students across the country were named Semifinalists and have the opportunity to continue in the competition for some 6,870 National Merit Scholarships worth approximately $26 million that will be offered next spring.

MTLSD National Merit Scholarship Program Semifinalists are: Colin Doran, Elsa Haywiser, Jude Kashlan, Cara Lotter, Lucian Mikush, Sofia Pan, Mason Prettyman, Thomas Ranney, Clara Sun, and Kate Yang.

To be considered for a Merit Scholarship award, Semifinalists must fulfill several requirements to advance to the Finalist level of the competition. About 95 percent of the Semifinalists are expected to attain Finalist standing, and approximately half of the Finalists will win a National Merit Scholarship, earning the Merit Scholar title.
