Typically we will expect a letter of interest, resume and the PA Standard Teaching Application for any teacher or administrative positions.
Does Mt. Lebanon accept resumes for substitute teaching positions?
Yes. Please submit your application through our Job Postings link. You are also welcome to submit your application in response to specific substitute teaching positions that might be posted on our Job Postings link and that are applicable to your background. Mt. Lebanon requires an active Pennsylvania teaching certificate for all substitute teachers.

What if I am interested in a Facility Operations position (custodian, maintenance, bus driver, etc.)?
Most of our facility operations positions start through becoming a substitute custodian. Follow the directions above for applying for a substitute position with Mt. Lebanon School District.
What if I am interested in a Food Service position (cook or general worker)?
Most of our cafeteria worker positions start through becoming a substitute general cafeteria worker. Follow the directions above for applying for a substitute position with Mt. Lebanon School District.
How often are employment opportunities updated?
Open positions are posted as soon as the District recognizes the need to open a new position or backfill an existing position where there has been turnover. Postings will stay on the website for either a specified period of time or until the position has been filled.

Paraprofessionals
Support Our Students By Becoming A Paraprofessional
- Paraprofessionals are vital to the success of school districts. Working under the guidance of a licensed teacher, they provide crucial support in the classroom, whether by providing one-on-one support for students, helping manage the classroom, or organizing instructional materials. Their contributions enhance both teaching and learning experiences.
What Is A Paraprofessional or Personal Care Assistant (PCA)
- At Mt. Lebanon, paraprofessionals or personal care assistants (PCAs) are on-site, permanent positions working directly with students with special needs throughout the educational setting.
Positions are available in elementary, middle, and high school assignments, and Learning Support, Life Skills Support, Autistic Support (ABA), and Emotional Support classrooms.
Who Can Apply To Become a Professional
- To be eligible for instructional paraprofessional positions, the applicant must meet the following criteria:
- Be a high school graduate or possess a GED,
- AND
- 1) Have completed at least two (2) years of postsecondary study,
- OR
- 2) Possess an Associates degree or higher,
- OR
- 3) Complete a series of job-based trainings during the first year of employment, and continuing education credit hours during subsequent years
- AND
What Does A Typical Day for a Paraprofessional Look Like
- A typical schedule is Monday-Friday, 7 hours a day between 7:30 a.m. and 3:45 p.m. depending on the school.
- Paraprofessionals work 190 days during the regular school year and have summers, weekends, and holidays off.
- Personal Care Assistants provide support in the academic, social/emotional, and behavioral development of students in accordance with an Individualized Education Program (IEP) by:
- Engaging with students and staff
- Performing instructional support tasks like supervision, tutoring, and coaching
- Performing behavioral support tasks like communicating positive expectations, prompting/signaling, and redirecting
- Performing clerical support tasks like organizing materials and recording progress and observations
What Opportunities Are Available for Paraprofessionals
- Full and part-time opportunities may be available.
- This is an ongoing need. Applications are screened upon receipt and hiring occurs on a rolling basis.
