Congratulations to Mt. Lebanon School District Food Service Director Nolen Fetchko on his recognition as an Extra Mile Award recipient at the School Board meeting on October 28. Nolen was nominated by Athletic Director John Grogan.
Here is the nomination submission:
“I want to recommend Nolen Fetchko for an Extra Mile Award for the outstanding job he has done to develop our Game Day Meals program.
I spoke to Nolen about 6 months ago about helping me with some ideas on how to improve and educate our student athletes on sports nutrition. I have been so grateful for the help he has provided. Through his partnership with the University of Pittsburgh and the Game Day Meals program, we were able to bring out Auburn Weisensale, Director of Sports Nutrition for the University of Pittsburgh to speak to our student athletes and parents.
The Game Day Meals program has been very well received. Our students enjoy the lunches and the healthy choices they provide. We were also fortunate to have had the Pennsylvania Secretary of Agriculture, Russell Redding, visit the high school for a ribbon cutting ceremony to launch the new program, which is being recognized as a best practice and has been adopted in other districts as well.
Nolen has done an excellent job developing Game Day Meals and because of his efforts, I feel he is deserving of this recognition.”
