Model UN Team Wins 1st Place at Penn State Tournament

Congratulations to the High School Model UN team who won overall 1st Place honors at the Penn State Model UN Tournament on November 8-10.  The team was awarded "Best Delegation" in the competition attended by over 300 students from across Pennsylvania.  Mt. Lebanon students captured 1st place individual awards in five of ten committees and also won 2nd place in five committees.  Two students were awarded 3rd place in their committees. 

1st place honors went to senior Daniel McNulty and juniors Nathan Kerr, Jack Horrigan, Nora Kulzer, Alaina Smith, Katherine Wilkison and Jack Silverman.

The 2nd place winners were senior Sein Lee along with juniors Ben Brown and Ellie Hester and sophomores Anna Mares, Kelly Gorman, Sam Bailey and Hailey Latona.  Our 3rd place awardees were sophomores Raafay Khan and Kal Stefanov.    

Students at the conference debated topics such as the war in Yemen, the role of the Red Cross, Data Breach/Cyber Security, Climate Change and historical committees that featured The French Revolution and The Russo-Japanese War.  It was the first tournament of the school year for the Model UN team.  The next tournament will be the Model European Union in December at the University of Pittsburgh.
