Pittsburgh City Theatre's Annual Young Playwrights Contest Honors Mellon Student

Mellon student Brooke Murawski had her play, The Voice in my Head, presented at the Pittsburgh City Theatre over the past weekend.  Brooke's play was read and performed by actors from the University of Pittsburgh. Brooke's play was among four honorable mention plays read by  casts from the  University of Pittsburgh, Carnegie Mellon University, Seton Hill University, and West Liberty University. Brooke's was the only middle school play to receive this honor.

These plays were read as the outcome of the 2019 Pittsburgh City Theatre's annual Young Playwrights Contest.  Brooke was one of over 400 middle and high school students who entered the contest throughout Pittsburgh.

Brooke was one of about  20 Mellon and JMS students who participated in the contest organized and workshopped by Kathryn Duchin, gifted coordinator for Mellon/Jefferson middle schools.
