Secondary Reminder: 5 Day In-Person Option Starts Monday March 29

All secondary students will have the option of attending 5-day In-Person instruction starting on Monday, March 29. Secondary students will continue to have the fully Remote and 2-day (2-1-2) Hybrid instructional mode options available as well.

Please see the reminders from Dr. Davis below and Remember the 3 W’s: Wear a Mask, Wash Your Hands, and Watch Your Distance.

Dear Secondary Students and Families,

Our 4th Quarter begins on Monday, March 29. The fully Remote and 2-day (2-1-2) Hybrid instructional mode options remain available to secondary students, and the 4-day In-Person instructional mode option will be replaced with the 5-day In-Person instructional mode option.

For those attending In-Person instruction at the building, a few reminders:

  • Our number one priority is the health and safety of our students and staff. To help decrease the risk of spreading COVID-19, parents and guardians please complete a self-screening assessment of your child prior to coming to school each day and report any COVID-19 symptoms to the school nurse. Visit the Student Daily Symptom Check/Reporting section on the District website for the Symptom Checklist and other important information. If your child has any of the symptoms listed and/or your child has answered yes to any of the Symptom Check questions, please keep your child home and notify your child’s school nurse immediately.

  • All students are expected to continue to wear face coverings per Governor Wolf’s order on Universal Masking.  During lunch, students may only lower their face covering to eat.

  • Student desks will be placed to provide at least six feet of separation among students and staff to the maximum extent feasible, but in no event less than three feet, and barriers will be afforded to all students when less than six feet.  The proper use of barriers, when circumstances warrant, reduces the chances of being a close contact if a case should occur.

  • The District will continue to comply with the Recommendations for Pre-K to 12 Schools Following Identification of a Case(s) of COVID-19.

  • Remember the 3 W’s: Wear a Mask, Wash Your Hands, and Watch Your Distance.

The District’s COVID-19 Dashboard provides information about COVID cases in the District. The PDE COVID+ graph aligns to and informs our actions in relation to the Pennsylvania Department of Education's Recommendations for Pre-K to 12 Schools Following Identification of a Case(s) of COVID-19.  As a reminder about the PDE COVID+ graph:

  • Each school's graph accounts for the number of positive and probable cases of employees and students who were physically present at the school during the 14 day rolling period.

  • Each school’s graph includes those Remote students who came on campus to participate in athletics or activities at a school building.

  • The case count for a school would reset, should it be determined that a school needed to close for any length of time.

Our Principals, faculty, and staff remain committed to the academic success and well-being of all students, Remote, Hybrid, and full In-Person.  I wish our students the best as we begin the final quarter of the 2020-2021 school year, and as always, should you have any questions or concerns, your child’s teacher, counselor, and Principal(s) serve as points of contact.

I want to thank you for your support of the District as we remain focused on Providing the Best Education Possible for Each and Every Student

Sincerely,

Ronald P. Davis, Ed.D.

Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Education
