Strategic Plan
During the 2024-2025 school year, the Mt. Lebanon School District will embark on a strategic planning process that will shape the District’s path over the next seven years. A strategic plan is a comprehensive document that outlines the District's goals, objectives, and strategies to ensure we achieve our vision for the future. Community Input
- In November and December of 2024, the District collected feedback from parents/guardians, students in grades 5-12, and staff via an online survey. The results were shared during the December 9 Board of Directors meeting. A copy of the results can be found here.
- From January 8 to February 10, focus groups were held for students, staff, and families/community. A copy of the results can be found here.
2019-2025 MTLSD Strategic Plan
On January 22, 2019, the Mt. Lebanon School District Board of School Directors approved the District's new Comprehensive (Strategic) Plan which was collaboratively developed by District, parent, and community representatives through what is known as a constituent-driven strategic planning process. The goals associated with this plan will be effective with the 2019-2020 school year and span a 6 year cycle. These goals will assist us in making vision-driven decisions to guide the Mt. Lebanon School District.
The four goals established for the District and approved by the School Board include:
1. Student mastery of expanding and increasingly complex standards in reading and language arts, mathematics, the sciences, world languages, social sciences, physical and mental health, and practical and fine arts in essential to maintain the District’s standard of excellence. Related is the need to provide a balance of experiences in academics, athletics and the arts.
2. There is a complementary set of skills to the standards that separate students who are prepared for increasingly complex life and work environments in the 21st century, from those who are not. An education that develops the skills of analysis, critical thinking, problem solving, creativity, communication, global awareness and collaboration is essential to prepare students for the future.
3. Mastery of standards and a complementary set of skills are best achieved in a thriving and compassionate community of students and adults whose performance and well-being are fostered by an intentional focus on evidence-based Social and Emotional Learning.
4. For students to learn and demonstrate their knowledge, skills, and abilities, the District must foster a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment in each of its schools.
August 14, 2023 - The Pennsylvania Department for Education’s Chapter 4 specifies planning requirements for school entities. The District is to submit its Comprehensive Plan, an update to the District’s Strategic Plan, by October 31, 2023. The Comprehensive Plan is submitted for public view, available on the District’s Website under Strategic Planning, for the next 28 days.
