Superintendent

Timothy J. Steinhauer, Ed.D.

 

Dr. Timothy J. Steinhauer was appointed Superintendent of Schools for the Mt. Lebanon School District in 2009. The Mt. Lebanon School District is recognized nationally for high academic performance, educational innovation, and operational ingenuity. Before joining Mt. Lebanon, Dr. Steinhauer worked for 16 years as an assistant superintendent, high school principal, and middle school principal in several high achieving public schools in Pennsylvania.

Dr. Steinhauer received his Bachelor’s Degree in music education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He completed graduate studies at The Pennsylvania State University with both a Master of Education Degree and a Doctor of Education Degree in Educational Administration. He continues to participate in advanced study through the University of Pittsburgh and Harvard University. His current area of curiosity is in research-based contemplative practices that improve student and adult performance.

Other experiences include the roles of Examiner and Head of School through the International Baccalaureate Organization. In addition, he has twice served on the Board of Examiners for the National Institute of Standards and Technology Malcolm Baldrige Quality Award. An active educational advocate, Dr. Steinhauer has presented locally, nationally, and internationally including twice in China.

An avid skier and runner, Dr. Steinhauer is a proud member of the American Association of School Administrators (AASA), Digital Consortium (AASA), Western Pennsylvania Superintendent’s Forum, and the District Management Council (DMC).

Dr. Steinhauer’s wife, Kimberly, is the President of Estill Voice International, and is an internationally recognized expert in vocal pedagogy. They have two sons and reside in Mt. Lebanon, Pennsylvania.
