The District continues its policy of non-discrimination on the basis of race, age, sex, religion, color, national origin, language, sexual orientation, pregnancy, protected genetic information, gender identity, handicap or disability in its educational programs, activities and employment practices, as required by Title IX of the 1972 Educational Amendments, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Section 504 Regulations of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act and all other applicable state, federal and local laws and ordinances.
Title IX is a federal civil rights law in the United States of America that was passed as part of the Education Amendments of 1972. It prohibits sex-based discrimination in any school or other education program that receives federal money. Title IX states that:
“No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subject to discrimination under any educational program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.”
The District will comply with federal law and regulations under Title IX prohibiting sexual harassment, which is a form of unlawful discrimination on the basis of sex.
The District is committed to providing equal access and opportunity to all students and employees through the maintenance of a safe, positive environment free from all forms of harassment and discrimination. Discrimination, including harassment and Title IX sexual harassment, against students and employees in any manner is prohibited and will not be tolerated. All reported or suspected acts of discrimination and harassment will be promptly, fully, and impartially investigated.
Title IX training includes the definition of sexual harassment, jurisdictional scope of Title IX, managing the Title IX investigation and grievance procedure, and other topics related to responding to sexual harassment and sexual violence reports.
