| During Jefferson Elementary School's Great Kindness Challenge this year, they selected the annual service project of a "Donation Drive to Value our Vets." With the assistance of Jacklyn Girman, a PCA at JES, and the Geo Mack Veterans Foundation, students helped to pack 1,322 care bags for local veterans. Additionally, there were donations of socks, gloves, and hygiene products. As another part of the JES Great Kindness Challenge, students decorated coffee sleeves with kind notes, messages, and pictures. They delivered them to Coffee Tree on Beverly Road to spread cheer in the immediate community surrounding their school. Thank you to the JES staff, faculty and students for a job well done! |

| | 79 seniors were inducted into the Mt. Lebanon Chapter of the Cum Laude Society this month. There are only 382 chapters in the world, and of the existing chapters, Mt. Lebanon is 1 of the 26 public school chapters. Our District has had a Cum Laude Society Chapter since 1962. According to the Cum Laude Society by-laws, induction into the Chapter is based solely on academic performance; the top 20% of the senior class are eligible for induction. A student must have had a 4.9 GPA to be considered in the top 20% of this year's class. Congratulations to all of the Cum Laude Society inductees. |

| The Lincoln Elementary PTA spent the month of February spreading kindness by collecting and creating Jared Boxes! The Jared Box Project was created by the children at Our Lady of Victory School in State College, Pennsylvania to honor their classmate and friend, Jared. He was a brave boy who battled cancer with courage and positivity. Lifting the spirits of chronically ill children is the goal of the Jared Box Project. A Jared Box is a small plastic storage box filled with toys, games and activities. The boxes entertain and lift the spirits of brave little patients as they receive chemotherapy or similar medical treatments. As Lincoln families donated materials for the project, 5th graders worked to create and decorate boxes that included notes of encouragement. Some students even created their own Jared Boxes at home to contribute to the project! 133 Jared Boxes were created at Lincoln and delivered to children at Allegheny Health Network in Wexford as they receive treatment for their illnesses. Thank you to everyone who helped us to spread kindness! |

| Congratulations to our Lebanon Log staff for being recognized nationally for their coverage and design of the 2021 Lebanon Log. Additionally, they have been recognized with a 1st Class award through the National Scholastic Press Association (NSPA) and a 1st place American Scholastic Press Association (ASPA) award. In a year where finding and covering students was more challenging than before, they covered more than 50% of the student body 3, or more, times in the yearbook. This accomplishment for the log staff is something near impossible during a normal, pre-pandemic, school year. Most schools that have a similar enrollment work to cover only half of their student body, twice. Our students' achievement will be published in the Jostens 2022 Look Book, which recognizes the best yearbook achievements in the nation. |
