Lebo Makers Reimagine Learning

This fall, the elementary schools opened their reimagined libraries with new Matt's Maker Spaces. From the moment you enter the makerspaces you can feel the creative energy as students problem solve how to make a marble travel the farthest or figure out how to build a structure to support an object. In this space science, engineering, art, communication, math and technology all intersect as students work in teams or individually to try out new ideas. As Hoover Principal Nicole Giehll says, "In our Matt's Maker Space, FAIL stands for "First Attempt In Learning."   Read More

Unity Through Art

Congratulations to Mt. Lebanon senior Hannah Jones, and Mellon Middle School eighth-grader Benny Hornburg on winning Mt. Lebanon's Unity in the Community art contest sponsored by the Mt. Lebanon Community Relations Board. The goal of the contest was to celebrate cultural diversity and its role in sustaining our community. Read More

Dr. Steinhauer Awarded the William E. Caldwell Award for Excellence in Administration and Supervision

This summer, Dr. Tim Steinhauer was awarded the 2017 Pennsylvania School Study Council (PSSC) William E. Caldwell Award in Administration and Supervision. Dr. Lawrence Wess from the PSSC attended the July 17 School Board meeting to present the award. Dr. Steinhauer was nominated for this award by multiple District administrators, teachers, and a retired superintendent from another district. He was acknowledged for his personal mission to ensure that the teaching, administrative and all staff are a reflection of their changing and supportive community. Read More

What's Your One Word?

At the school district's opening day convocation with staff, Dr. Steinhauer introduced the concept of "One Word" from the book "One Word that will change your life" by Jon Gordon, Dan Britton and Jimmy Page @getoneword. He invited everyone to pick one word to be the focus for the next twelve months. It is a simple, thoughtful and purposeful action that begins by unplugging the noise, quieting the mind and creating the space to think about what type of person we want to be, how we want to live our life and what impact do we want to have on others.

MTLHS Alumni Tailgate

The Mt. Lebanon School District invites all MTLHS Alumni, friends and families to the 4th Annual Alumni Tailgate on Oct. 6 from 6-8:00 p.m. on the Athletic Building Plaza off Stadium Drive. Tickets are $20 and includes BBQ chicken, ribs, salads, desserts, soft drinks and admission to the Mt. Lebanon vs Norwin HS football game. The event will take place rain or shine. Purchase tickets here.


 

School District Calendar Revised: May In-Service Date Change

The teacher in-service day for May 2018 has been changed from May 22 to May 15. Schools will be closed on May 15 for students. This change was approved by the School Board in September. 2017-2018 School District Calendar
