MTLSD Welcomes New School Board Members 

The Mt. Lebanon School Board held their reorganization meeting on December 4, 2017. Judge Terrence McVerry conducted the installation of new School Board members Elaine Cappucci and Aviva Diamond, and re‐elected directors Michael Riemer and Stephen Strotmeyer. The Board elected Michael Riemer as Board President and Sarah Olbrich as Vice President. The School Board also voted to appoint Thomas P. Peterson as solicitor.


At the December 18 School Board meeting, five candidates were interviewed for the open two-year seat.  After a discussion of the candidates, the Board selected Mr. Al Frioni to serve on the Board. Mr. Frioni was sworn in and took his seat with the other Board members.

Now that winter has officially arrived with the first school delay of the season called last week, we'd like to suggest that you follow us on Twitter @mtlsd and @mtlsdsuper and Like Us on Facebook at to receive the first alerts of a snow delay or cancellation.  As the phone calls are going out, we post delay/closing alerts on social media as well.  While social media is a great way to receive updates, it is still very important to keep your contact information updated in Dashboard to receive school emergency information.  If you have questions about your Dashboard user ID's, contact your school secretary for assistance.

Markham Holiday Tradition Celebrates 35th Year

The Markham Elementary School holiday tradition of making gingerbread houses turned 35 this year. Students in first grade worked with their "Buddies" in the fourth and fifth grades during this annual event that pairs students to engage in the fine art of gingerbread house construction. 

The older students guided their younger friends in a memory making event that was as sweet as it was 35 years ago. Read More


C-Span Bus Visits The High School

C-SPAN's all-new, state-of-the-art 45-foot customized motor coach made its debut visit to Pittsburgh on December 11 with a stop at Mt. Lebanon High School. Partnering with Comcast to engage teachers and students,  through interactive demonstrations of C-SPAN's multi-platform public service resources, the new C-SPAN Bus welcomed students from the high school to become engaged and informed citizens. HS Broadway Cabaret Choral Concert Jan. 10-13
