School Safety Topic of Community Conversation

Thank you to all who braved the snowy night to attend the Community Conversation About Safety and Security. Dr. Steinhauer and MLPD Chief Aaron Lauth shared information about our school safety programs including ways we secure our buildings, train students and staff, and develop prevention strategies. A question and answer period followed that touched on a wide range of issues from alarms on doors in schools, to metal detectors, staff training and ways to detect at risk students. We appreciated the thoughtful questions and as Dr. Steinhauer remarked, "Everything is on the table and will be reviewed for consideration." For more information about the event and a link to the video of the presentation Click here.

These revisions dropped the millage increase to .43 mills. Further refinements will be discussed before a Proposed Budget is presented for Board consideration at the April 16 meeting and a final budget approval on May 21, 2018.
