New For this Year in MTLSD Planning has been underway for a very busy and productive school year. Here is brief rundown of a few of our programs and initiatives for the 2019-2020 school year.
Link Crew There was lots of Lebo Spirit as the Link Crew welcomed the Class of 2023 to the high school before the first day of school. This high school transition program connects 11th and 12th grade Link Leaders with incoming 9th graders. Thank you to our student Link Leaders and faculty advisors, Ms. Shelly Saba, Mr. Mike Locke, Ms. Christy Smith and Unit Principal Ms. Katelyn Deet, for the positive impact the program has on the freshmen. The student Link Leaders know what it was like as they moved from middle school to the high school, so they do everything they can to create a smooth transition for our freshmen while having lots of fun. We are very #Leboproud of this program.
First Week a Success! We welcomed back students on Monday, August 26 for the first day of the 2019-2020 school year. We hope everyone is relaxed and refreshed from the summer and as excited as we are to start the year. To our new families, welcome to Lebo! We are so happy you chose the Mt. Lebanon School District and we look forward to you being part of the MTLSD school community. Watch a video of the first day.
The Class of 2032 is Here! We welcomed the Class of 2032 to school on August 28. Our new kindergarten class currently has 374 students. The MTLSD kindergarten program provides opportunities for children to grow cognitively, physically, socially, and emotionally. They are our future--here's to a great school year, little ones.
New Visitor Management System Beginning on the first day of school, the District launched a new visitor management program. Recommended by the Mt. Lebanon Police Department, the new system replaces manual paper based logs and keeps track of who is in our schools. It also allows us to electronically check persons against known sexual offender databases and produce customized visitor badges. Thank you for your patience as we implement the new system. Read More
School Safety Training for Staff The Mt Lebanon Police and Mt Lebanon Fire departments conducted two excellent days of school safety training for all MTLSD faculty and staff. The MLPD reviewed ALiCE procedures (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate) and held a few scenarios for staff to take part in. Thank you to the MLPD and MLFD for the training, and for their commitment and dedication to help keep our schools safe for all. UPCOMING EVENTS
