No. 306 MEDITATION & MIND TRAINING (HS Room D206 )

Wednesdays, April 29th

7:00-8:30 pm (5-weeks)                          

INSTRUCTOR: Wayne Amtzis

This course will focus on meditation in everyday life, meditation for analytical awareness and creative expression, and meditation for direct experience. It will emphasize how to use mind, body, and circumstance in everyday life as the basis for developing meditative awareness.   These teachings are open to anyone interested in meditation regardless of prior experience. 

Wayne Amtzis is a student and practitioner of Vajrayana Buddhism and a teacher of meditation.  He took refuge with the 16th Karmapa in Rumtek, Sikkim in 1978. During the forty years he lived in Kathmandu, Nepal he received meditation instruction from Pema Norbu Rinpoche, Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche, and Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche. He currently studies with Tsoknyi Rinpoche and Khenchen Namdrol Rinpoche. 

 

No. 208 CORE, BUTT, & LEGS (HS RM D105) 

Tuesdays & Thursdays, April 21st

Begin or continue a regular exercise regiment. This  one hour format will strengthen the core abs, legs, and buttocks. Beginners and advanced men and women welcome. Please bring a mat. 

 

No. 104 STRENGTH & CARDIOVASCULAR CONDITIONING (HS Fitness Center)

Mondays & Wednesdays, April 20th    

8:00 pm-9:00 pm (6-weeks)

Get your registration in early to guarantee a spot in the class.  SPACE IS LIMITED! Begin or continue a regular exercise regiment. The one hour format will include circuit strength training, cardio/aerobic fitness, proper stretching techniques and balance exercises to prevent falls.  Consistent strength training can increase bone density to prevent breakage of bones and also help with weight loss. Class will be a challenge and fun for all participants. Consult with your physician before beginning any regular exercise.   


 

No. 105 BASKETBALL LEAGUE (Auxiliary Gyms, Gold and South)

Fees: Team (nine players) $320/team

Additional players (up to 2) $40/player

Reversible league jersey $15 each

Join us for our 60th year. This is a competitive five-on-five basketball league for adult residents and Mt. Lebanon graduates. Email dblack@mtlsd.net for Team Entry/Roster Form. Team captains can bring Entry/Roster Form completed with players’ names & addresses along with payment for fees to the lobby of the new Athletic Complex between 8:00-9:00 PM on Wednesday, May 6th.  Teams making the playoffs will be responsible for the additional cost of licensed referees.

Have fun and get fit! 

MONDAYS: (Bring a mat & bottle of water)* Class begins with a variety of fun & inspiring cardio dance routines followed by body-weight resistance training and stretching. 

WEDNESDAYS: (Bring a mat, bottle of water, 1-5 lb. hand weights, & thera-band (available for purchase or BYO))*.  Increase muscle strength using the barre, thera-bands and hand weights, followed by core work on the floor and a generous stretch (infusing Ballet, Pilates, and Yoga exercises). 

*No sneakers.  Sticky socks/dance shoes/barefoot only.)

These classes are the perfect complement to each other.  Get ready to burn calories, strengthen your core, sculpt those trouble spots, and leave in a more peaceful state.

 

No. 502 SATURDAY MORNING MAT PILATES (HS RM D-105)

INSTRUCTOR: Meghan Moran

NO CLASS: 5/23 or 6/6

 This class uses controlled movements in the form of mat exercises to tone and strengthen the body, increase flexibility, and build endurance, without adding muscle bulk.  By incorporating the eight principles of control, breath, flow, precision, centering, stability, range of motion, and opposition, the core muscles that support the spine will be strengthened, increasing the functionality of the body.  The class will end with a generous stretch. Please bring a mat and water.

Mild to moderate "flow" with dynamic breathing and synchronized movement. Open, relax, reinvigorate, nourish & restore.

 

ENERGY FLOW (6-weeks)

Thursdays 7:15-8:15 pm (Begins 4/23)

Link breath and movement in a rhythmic dance that frees the mind.  This class physically wrings out and balances all parts of the self. This class includes several sun salutations to help build heat, align and strengthen the body.

                                         

Bring a yoga mat & water. Blocks, blankets, straps or towels optional.
