Make Summer Count
Summer is a great time to keep skills sharp, explore new interests, and have fun. Mt. Lebanon offers two summer options, each designed for a different purpose. Here's how to find the right fit for your child.
Summer Enrichment
The MTLSD Summer Enrichment Program provides enrichment activities for students entering grades 4-8 in the 2026-2027 school year.
Who Summer Enrichment Is For:
- Any student entering grades 4–8.
- Open to in-district and out-of-district students.
- Registration is open to all; a tuition fee applies.
Summer Learning
The Summer Learning Center helps K–5 students maintain their reading, writing, and math skills over the summer.
Who Summer Learning Is For:
- Students who qualify for Extended School Year (ESY) services.
- English as a Second Language (ESL) students.
- Other K–5 students recommended by their teacher for extra support.
Enrollment is by recommendation. Eligible families will be invited to register.
Summer Enrichment (Grades 4-8)
The MTLSD Summer Enrichment Program provides enrichment activities for students entering grades 4-8 in the 2026-2027 school year. The Summer Enrichment Program's goal, to provide an intellectually stimulating environment for elementary students during the summer months, is aligned with the District's mission statement. Furthermore, the program specifically addresses student achievement process targets in mathematics, communication, technology, critical thinking, and cooperative work. A tuition fee applies.

Sessions are held between 9:00 a.m. and noon at Mt. Lebanon High School, Mellon Middle School, and Jefferson Middle School.

Summer Learning (Grades K-5)
A four-week program designed to help students maintain their reading, writing, and math skills over the summer through flexible grouping, individualized instruction, and thematically designed social and recreational activities.

Instruction will be provided from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Staffing
Each classroom will be staffed with a certified teacher. Additional staff, including a counselor, classroom assistants, and related service providers (as necessary), will deliver services in order to maintain requirements for Extended School Year and English as a Second Language.
How To Register
If you would like to register your child with the Summer Learning Center, please fill out the enclosed registration form and the emergency contact form; send all to Lisa Shank in the Office of Student Support at Hoover Elementary no later than Friday, May 9, 2025. A student whose registration information is received after May 9 will be placed on a waiting list in the order registration was received.
