New Students

The District operates seven elementary schools (grades K-5), two middle schools (grades 6-8), and a high school (grades 9-12). A list of schools and their locations can be found here. 

If you don’t know what school your child will attend, you can enter an address by visiting our School Attendance Areas map to find your neighborhood elementary or middle school.

School Handbooks: Our school handbooks cover the basics from activities to homework and key procedures. Our handbooks are broken down by elementary, middle school, and high school. Included in the handbooks are the District’s behavior expectations, explaining how the District handles matters of conduct and discipline consistently and fairly. The Mt. Lebanon School District takes pride in being a walking school district. Every year, we partner with the Mt. Lebanon Police Department (MLPD) to promote safe walking awareness. At the start of the school year, we emphasize safe walking rules with students, and the MLPD has even established Safe Walking Routes for each elementary school. We encourage you to review these routes with your child regularly throughout the year.

Technology plays an important role in your student’s education and provides our parents/guardians with important information. 

MTLSD has been designated by Google as a Google Reference District. This means that our students from Grades K through 12 are given MTLSD login accounts, which synchronize with Google to provide them access to apps

All MTLSD students in grades K-5 are issued a device for their learning at school and at home. Students in Kindergarten and 1st grade receive iPads, while students in grades 2-5 are issued Chromebooks. 

Students in grades 6-12 are required to bring a non-cell phone device with them to school every day. 

If you would like to borrow a device for your student in grades 6-12, please submit a request. 

Schoology: MTLSD’s Learning Management System (LMS). A LMS is a centralized online education hub where educators create and manage lessons, assign quizzes, and assignments, and grade student work. To learn more about Schoology, visit our website. 

For all District-issued student devices, families have the option of purchasing an Equipment Protection Plan (EPP). The EPP is OPTIONAL and is NOT required. The EPP will cover a single 1:1 District-owned device for the 2025-2026 school year - starting on July 1, 2025, and concluding on June 30, 2026.

The MTLSD Nursing Services Department’s mission is to foster the growth, development, and educational achievement of each student by promoting his or her health and wellness in a safe and supportive environment.

Our health services handbook can be found on our website with information about physicals and immunization requirements. 

Parent/guardians should contact their child’s certified school nurse with any special healthcare needs.

The Mt Lebanon School District Food Service Department promotes good nutrition by providing quality meals while maintaining the highest level of customer satisfaction.

PaySchools Central Account

• MTLSD cafeterias utilize PaySchools Central, a computerized debit system, in the cafeteria lunch lines. All first graders and students new to the District will need to create an account with PaySchools Central.

During the school year, MTLSD distributes an email newsletter to parents/guardians each Sunday at 2:00 p.m. The newsletter contains links to individual school emails and District news. 

At times, the superintendent will also share district-wide information through individual emails, which are sent directly to our school families through the contact information entered in the PowerSchool Dashboard. Families should make sure their contact information and notification preferences are correct and kept up to date so they don’t miss any key communications from the schools or District.

Arts & Activities

Participation Fees 

• MTLSD  has a participation fee structure for certain extra-curricular activities, such as interscholastic athletics, marching band, intramurals, and various select ensembles or clubs. Visit our website for full details on participation fees.

Our PTAs (Parent-Teacher Associations) play a crucial role in supporting schools by fostering a strong connection between parents, teachers, and students. Learn more about our PTA groups. 
 

MTLSD welcomes and values volunteer participation in our schools. To ensure the safety of our students, MTLSD requires volunteers to comply with the MTLSD Policy IJOC School Volunteers, which can be found on our website.
