Our Approach to School Safety
Safety at Mt. Lebanon School District isn't a single policy or a single person's job. It's a shared commitment built on four pillars, working together every day.
Physical Safety
Secured buildings, visitor check-in, security cameras, regular drills, and close coordination with the Mt. Lebanon Police Department keep our buildings safe every school day.
Emergency Preparedness
Every school has a detailed emergency operations plan. Our staff trains regularly and our plans are reviewed annually with local emergency services.
Mental Health & Wellness
A safe school is one where students feel supported. Our counselors, SAP team, and mental health resources ensure no student faces a difficult moment alone.
Community Awareness
Safety is a shared responsibility. Safe2Say gives every community member, from students, families, and neighbors, a way to report concerns anonymously, at any time.
Walking Routes & Crossing Guards
Mt. Lebanon is proud to be a walkable community. Each day, many students walk to and from school using neighborhood sidewalks and designated crossings. Crossing guards play an important role in helping students cross safely at key intersections along these routes.
