GoGuardian Filtering
Our district uses GoGuardian to provide web filtering and monitoring on school-issued devices and networks. This helps ensure students stay safe online by blocking inappropriate sites, enforcing our acceptable-use policies, and generating alerts when risky behavior is detected—such as attempts to access blocked content or signs of self-harm. Gaggle Student Safety Services (Grades 3-12)
To further support a safe and healthy learning environment for students in grades 3-12, our district uses Gaggle. Gaggle’s services monitor student activity across school gmail, google drive documents, and google chat (grades 9-12) for signs of potential safety issues—such as cyber-bullying, inappropriate content, or mental-health concerns—and escalate alerts to our trained staff for follow-up. GoGuardian Parent App
GoGuardian Parent is an application available on devices running iOS and Android designed to enable the District to share managed user history collected via GoGuardian with parents and guardians that have a LeboID. GoGuardian Parent also provides Parents and Guardians with the ability to pause their student's internet, block specific websites, and schedule internet availability on District-managed devices.

These features have no guaranteed functionality on personally owned, unmanaged student devices.

The established “school hours” for Mt. Lebanon School District are 7:30am - 3:30pm on school days. Using the GoGuardian Parent app to set filters and time limits on your student will only affect your student’s browsing experience outside of these school hours.

As of the 2026-2027 school year, every family member with a LeboID is automatically enrolled in GoGuardian Parent. For help documentation, look inside the LeboTech Help icon in your LeboID LaunchPad!
 

District-Approved Apps and Websites
The Mt. Lebanon School District carefully selects systems and online resources that uphold the privacy of students and staff. When using third-party platforms that offer digital content, tools, or immersive experiences, it may be necessary to provide certain personally identifiable information - such as a student's name and email address - to ensure proper functionality.

Under federal law titled Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), websites must provide parental notification and obtain parental consent before collecting personal information from children under the age of 13. The law permits school districts to consent to the collection of personal information on behalf of all of its students, thereby eliminating the need for individual parental consent given directly to the website. If the site or service does not collect your student's personal information, COPPA does not apply to the site or service.

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), is a U.S. federal law that protects the privacy of student education records, giving parents (and eligible students) rights to access, amend, and control disclosure of those records. If an app used by a school district is described as "FERPA compliant," it means the app is designed and operated in a way that safeguards student data and aligns with FERPA’s requirements for protecting educational records.

Through the TrustEd Apps Program, 1EdTech regularly vets the privacy policies and regulatory compliance of hundreds of edtech companies of all types using an open standard privacy rubric designed and utilized by 1EdTech members. TrustEd Apps gives institutions and suppliers a helping hand to reduce the time and worry spent determining whether a particular edtech tool meets today's expectations in data privacy.

The following list of applications are approved (in part or in whole) for teachers at Mt. Lebanon to use with their students for learning. These apps appear to comply with both COPPA and FERPA regulations and can be made available to students in the District.
