Mt. Lebanon School District Ranked #1 in Pittsburgh Business Times Guide to Western PA Schools
The Mt. Lebanon School District is the top-ranked school district in western Pennsylvania, according to the Pittsburgh Business Times' Honor Roll Rank released today. Mt. Lebanon High School and Jefferson Middle School were also ranked as the top 11th grade and 8th grade in the region. All 10 schools received high rankings to lead to the overall top finish for the school district.
Mt. Lebanon Ranks in Top Ten of Digital School Districts
The Mt. Lebanon School District ranked among the top school districts in the nation in the tenth annual Digital School Districts Survey by the Center for Digital Education (CDE) and the National School Boards Association (NSBA). The survey showcases exemplary school boards’ and districts’ use of technology to govern the district, communicate with students, parents and the community, and improve district operations.

Model UN Team 4 for 4
After winning 1st place at Model UN tournaments held at Pitt, Penn State and Duquesne earlier in the year, our Model UN team won the 1st Place Award for Best School at American University's Model UN Conference held March 28-30. Mt. Lebanon not only won the tournament's Best Overall award ("Best Delegation") but also won 1st place individual student honors in five of the conference's seven committees.
Mt. Lebanon Teacher CeCe Kapron Among Finalists for PA Teacher of the Year
Mt. Lebanon High School dance teacher CeCe Kapron was named one of thirteen regional finalists who will advance to the next level for Pennsylvania Teacher of the Year 2015.
Board Approves Revised School Calendar
At the March 17, 2014 School Board meeting, the Board approved the revised school calendar. The last day of school for students is Friday, June 13.

High School Wrestlers Visit Howe to Say "Thanks!"
High school wrestlers Kellan Stout, Kevin Kinyua, and Zeynul Zaynullayev--all PIAA State Wrestling Qualifiers--made a visit to Howe Elementary second grade classrooms.
Alcoa Grant Awards JMS for Environmental Focus
Jefferson Middle School was awarded a $15,000 grant by the Alcoa Foundation to support an Environmental Year at JMS.
Mt. Lebanon Schools Honored with Governor’s Award for Excellence in Academics
It was a great day for Mt. Lebanon! Dr. Timothy Steinhauer welcomed Governor Tom Corbett and Acting Secretary of Education Carolyn Dumaresq to the high school today to celebrate the nine Mt. Lebanon Schools that received the Governor’s Award for Excellence in Academics.

Senior Ellen Wilson is a finalist for the Caplan-Lieber Human Relations Award sponsored by the Pittsburgh Area Jewish Committee.
Jefferson and Mellon Literary Magazines Honored by NCTE
Jefferson Middle School’s Literary Magazine Our Piece of Mind and Mellon Middle School’s The Outlook were both recognized with a rank of Excellent in the 2013 National Council of Teachers of English.

Mrs. Chowdhury Goes to Washington
Foodservice Director Tazeen Chowdhury traveled to Washington, D.C., on March 31 and April 1 to take part in a national gathering hosted by The Pew Charitable Trusts in support of efforts to improve school nutrition. Mrs. Chowdhury spoke at a senate sub-committee on school nutrition policy.
District Honored wtih Meritorious Budget Award
The Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO) awarded the Mt. Lebanon School District the Meritorious Budget Award (MBA) for excellence in budget presentation for 2013-14.
