Seventh grade students are invited to join Mrs. Miller and Mr. Young at their monthly Seventh Grade Book Club! For their first meeting of the year, the club will meet on Wednesday, October 11, 2017, in Mrs. Miller's room (room 215) to discuss The City of Ember by Jeanne DuPrau. The City of Ember takes readers to a futuristic city where the citizens have always enjoyed a world of sparkling lights. Suddenly, shortages and power outages plague the city. Two teenagers must discover the history of Ember in order to secure its future.
This dystopian adventure story has received a number of literary awards and honors that include the American Library Association Notable Book, New York Public Library's 100 Titles for Reading, and it spent several weeks on the New York Times Bestseller List (Children's Paperback Fiction).
